Does your child struggle with homework or organization? Do you have to “help” them get out the door in the morning? Imagine what it would be like if they could get themselves out the door and then at the end of their day, get their homework done without your help or supervision. Wouldn’t it be nice to see a proud, confident smile every day? Well, you can if you sign your child up for this new class.
“FUN”damentals of learning is designed for students in Grades 2-3 or Grades 6-7. It covers the basic skills necessary to be an effective learner using hands-on activities and problem solving strategies. Students in both groups will begin to understand mindset and its impact on their learning, how organization can help them and what it REALLY means to “study.” Through discussion and hands-on activities students will look at what it means to “learn”, and the skills it takes to become an effective learner. Some of the topics covered are: mindset, failure, organization, directions, homework routines, communicating what you know and strategies for learning. Class for Grades 2-3 meets three times at 2pm and there are two sessions to choose from (July 30, Aug 6 and 13 or Aug 1, 8, and 15th 2019). There is an option for a make-up class due to vacations. Investment for the three classes is $150 and class size is limited to 6 students to allow for individual attention.
Grades 6-7: All students want to do well. They just don’t know how to change things. Juggling homework from multiple teachers, long term projects and studying for quizzes and tests can be a lot to handle. This class offers strategies for learning and organization including how to REALLY use an agenda or homework app to help keep track of things. These skills will then help them master their homework and study skills for greater academic success. It is different from tutoring – these are the underlying skills necessary to learning effectively. Class meets three times: August 7th, 14th and 21st at 3:00 pm with an option for a make-up class due to possibility of vacation conflicts. No need to worry if your child misses one class – he or she will get the information in the make-up class.
Is this class right for your child? The student that thrives in this class is motivated and wants to do well yet struggles with organization, time and project management, problem solving, flexible thinking and is often not getting the grades he or she is capable of.
